The picturesque Firth of Forth coastline forms the backdrop to this scenic Half Marathon which takes place on Sunday 18th April 2010.

The course remains unchanged for 2010, starting on the track at Meadowbank Stadium, the route then takes runners out of central Edinburgh to the Firth of Forth coast at Portobello before heading southwards towards a grandstand finish at Musselburgh Racecourse.

Volunteers Wanted

The Chris Hoy Edinburgh Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 18th April and the event team are requesting support from volunteers to work with us on race day to deliver the event.

We are looking for assistance in three main areas:

  • Start crew – including runner services, start pen marshals
  • Course crew – including course marshals, water station marshals
  • Finish crew – including de-chip marshals, rewards marshals, shuttle bus crew

The event task will be as follows:

  • Be available to work from 7.30am to between 10.00am and 12.00 noon on Sunday 18th April. Hours will vary depending upon the role assigned.
  • Attend a marshal briefing at Meadowbank Stadium on Wednesday 7th April @ 7pm. [Course marshals]
  • Work in your assigned role under the direct control of a Start, Finish, Service Area or Course Sector Supervisor.
  • Be vigilant at all times when carrying out the task. (All volunteers will be briefed on requirements well in advance of the race day!)
  • Wear high viz clothing at your event point. (The High Viz clothing will be supplied by the event team on the morning of the event)

What do you get!

  • All volunteers will receive a £20.00 cash in hand payment on the race day for Marshal support
  • All volunteers who agree to help out will receive a New Balance Technical T-Shirt to the value of £15.00

Interloq are Official Winning Time chip timing providers for this event.

Using the latest world class Winning Time technology, Interloq will provide timing services for the half marathon. Each entrant will wear an individual timing chip, which automatically records their finishing time. Look out for details in the race pack. Race results will be available via their website at www.winningtimeuk.com.

Official Race Photographer

MyBibNumberEntrants will be able to purchase professional photographs of themselves via our official event photographers my-bib-number. They will have photographers positioned along the scenic stages of the run; try to give them a smile!

The company offer a unique service as you can view, purchase and take home a photograph on the day of the run. Simply enter your bib number into one of their viewing stations at the finish line to view and print your image. Race certificates will also be available, these include the race logo and your time displayed on your photograph. So remember to stop by before leaving and view your images.
